Google rolls out two new features for Meet: All the details – Times of India

0

Video calls took off during the peak pandemic across the world. And even though the pandemic has been on the wane, video calls have pretty much become a regular part of people’s work life. Google Meet in the last two years has seen many updates and features. And now two more features have been added to Google Meet.
Sharing content becomes easier
In a blog post, Google said that users can now share access to the content they’re presenting in a meeting with attendees, including everyone on the Calendar guest list, directly from Meet. When a user is presenting, they can share the file from the floating action menu or via the suggestion in the Meet Chat. Further, meeting attendees will see a notification when you’ve shared a file, and a link to the file will be automatically shared in the meeting chat.
The second feature makes it easier to share links and attach them to the calendar, So whenever a user pastes a link into the meeting chat, they will be prompted with the file access dialog. From here, they can adjust access as needed and choose to attach the file to the calendar event.
How will the features be useful to users?
In the blog post, Google said that “by allowing sharing directly from Meet, you can seamlessly share presented content without having to switch into another window to grant access, which can be disruptive. This makes it easier for meeting attendees to follow along with your presentation, find and reference your material later on, and continue working on action items from the meeting.”
The features are available to all Google Workspace customers, as well as legacy G Suite Basic and Business customer. Users with personal Google accounts can also use the feature. The features have been rolled out worldwide and should reach all users in the next fortnight or so.
