Google’s new Material You design is reportedly making its way to the Nearby Share feature on Android smartphones and tablets. The tech giant has already infused the update to Google Docs, Slides and Sheets. The Material You toggle was rolled out with version 1.22.442.03.90. Google apps like Android Auto and Google TV have also been revamped with this toggle.
What is Nearby Share
According to a blog post by Google, Nearby Share started rolling out to Android 6.0+ devices. “The feature makes it easier to instantly share files, links, pictures and more with people around you, all while protecting your privacy,” reads the blog post.

Google’s Nearby Share is the Android version of Apple’s AirDrop feature that helps users share data from iOS devices with others.
On the app, there’s a new wave animation that runs from left to right while the app is “Looking for nearby devices”. Moreover, the text now has a slightly bigger font and is centred.
The Material You redesign adds visual changes to the main UI that users interact with on the Nearby Share app.
The update is expected to be rolled out in a phased manner. For those uninitiated, it is a must to install the latest version of the security update.
What is Material You redesign
The toggle is designed like a pill and hence the Material (M3) switch is larger than the previous one, reports 9to5Google.
The latest M3 toggle features– new colour mappings, a taller and broader track and the ability to hold an icon in the switch thumb.

Google explains that M2 are switches that have circular thumbs that extend beyond the edge of the track whereas M3 switches have a taller and wider track, new colour mappings, and the ability to hold an icon in the switch thumb.
