The original Meet app is expected to disappear in the “coming months” as it lacks the latest features including direct calling and emoji reactions.
However, Google has now rolled out in-call emoji reactions for the upgraded Meet app. Apart from this, the company is also planning to update its video-calling app for Android and iOS devices with a new feature. Meet users can select from different backgrounds including an oasis, sky city or mountain temple for their video calls. The company claims that more 360-degree backgrounds are set to arrive in the upcoming days.
These new backgrounds will join the already available set of standard wallpapers, blur effects, video/moving backgrounds, styles (B&W, sepia, etc.) and face filters. Google Meet even enables users to upload their own customised backgrounds.
