Google has been adding new features to the Android’s official Contacts app. The company recently updated the app with a new Material You design and introduced a new logo for the app last month. Now, the company is rolling out an entirely new section for app called Highlights. The Highlights app appears at the new bottom ribbon bar between the Contacts and Fix & manage tabs.

The new Highlights tab is a mix of a couple of additional sections. For instance, the top part of the page has Favourite contacts which can accommodate up to four contacts in a row and also allows users to add more by tapping the Add button at the top right corner.
The second half of the page has the Recents section which is comprised of two tabs — Viewed Recently and Added Recently. The Viewed recently, as the name implies shows recently viewed contacts. This also includes the view date for them. While the Added Recently section includes all the recently added contacts. There’s also an overflow menu that let users clear recently viewed contacts.
The new Highlights tab is now available for users via the latest update. If you can’t see the option in your Google Contacts app, check for the update within the Play Store to update it manually.
