Google brings Search and Maps widgets for iOS 16 lock screen – Times of India

In September, Google announced that it will update its apps on iOS 16 with new widgets for the lock screen. The company has already rolled out the latest updates for Gmail, Drive and Chrome and now Search and Maps also join the list completing the lock screen widget update rollout.
9to5Google has reported that Google finally updated two of its remaining apps — Maps and Search — on iOS 16 which brings the much-awaited lock screen widgets for both apps on iOS 16.
According to the report, the Maps app has been updated to version 6.40 which includes a couple of iOS16 lock screen widgets which include Search and Frequent Trips. The Search widget opens up the Google app with a keyboard ready to search for gas stations, restaurants, etc. The Frequent Trips widget offers details like location, ETA and traffic.

The Google app widget, according to the report, includes a total of five features. The Search widget is available in two sizes — 1×1 and 2×1. Then there’s a widget for Voice Search, Lens, and Lens Shortcuts to easily access lens features like text, translate, etc.
The inclusion of the Search and Maps widget for iOS 16 lock screen completes the first wave of app updates from Google for iOS16. The updates are now available via Apple App Store and users can update the apps and start using the lock screen widgets for almost all the Google apps that have been recently updated and include a lock screen widget.
