Good Weekend letters to the editor: July 1
The Oxfactor
I had no idea that so many Australians had been to Oxford. I myself am not an academic but come from a family who were Rhodes scholars at Oxford. My father, Victor Robinson, was one, then my brother – at the same time as Bob Hawke – and finally my nephew. However, my daughter Caroline broke the spell and won a Beit scholarship from Zimbabwe, formerly Rhodesia, where we lived at the time, which gave her entry into Oxford. She is now in her 60s, but I truly believe her time at Oxford made her the lovely woman she is today, caring for all people wherever they come from. I used to love visiting Oxford with so many beautiful colleges steeped in history. Thank you for such an interesting article.
