Many households tuning in to watch some of their favourite channels may be left struggling to find them on Freeview. Don’t worry, they haven’t been removed they have just been moved to a different channel number as part of a new overhaul. In an update this week, Freeview noted that some broadcasters are making important changes to their channels. They added that customers who use Freeview will need to retune to update their TV and keep their channels and TV Guide up to date.

While almost a dozen channels have moved to a different number on the planner, two broadcasters have simply changed their names, while Freeview has also introduced three new international news channels.

Fans of “That’s 90s” on channel number 80, may be left confused by the new name change to “That’s 70s MCR”.

Meanwhile, “GREAT! Movies action”, available on channel number 42, has been renamed to simply “GREAT! Action”.

Freeview has also launched Al Jazeera in English and Arabic on channel numbers 285 and 286 respectively.

Al Jazeera is a Qatari state-sponsored 24-hour news channel that provides news and analysis on global events, with a focus on middle east events.

The following BBC ONE regional channels will all be moved to channel number 101, depending on your location.

  • BBC ONE East MidlandsHD
  • BBC ONE West MidlandsHD
  • BBC ONE London HD
  • BBC ONE Yorks HD
  • BBC ONE Yorks & Lincs HD
  • BBC ONE Channel Islands HD

Freeview says that when the new regional version of BBC One HD launches in each region, the current version of BBC One HD will be closed.

This means you will no longer have to tune away from BBC One HD at channel 101 to your regional version of BBC One on Freeview to watch your regional local news and programming.
