He asked the staff of the hospital to share shortcomings of the health services and he assured that all key issues would be rectified soon. He said at present there was a need for comprehensive reforms in the health system and concrete steps would be taken to rectify this in phases.

MLA Chadha asked the doctors to be present on time for their duties so that the needy patients could have more confidence in the government health system.

Chadha said patients should be benefited by making maximum use of the available resources in the hospital at present. He said two days ago he had taken action on the worst condition of ambulances after which the managing director of Punjab Health System Corporation has worked out a blueprint to improve the services of ambulances. He said in the same way, every service available in the government hospitals would be improved and provided to the general public with the full contribution of medical and para medical staff, including doctors.

“Our main goal is to improve the emergency services so that the precious lives of critically ill patients can be saved,” he said.

He added that every penny issued by the government should be utilised in a prudent manner. He also instructed SMO Rupnagar to take necessary steps for the availability of ultrasound facilities. He told the officers to deal politely with the people and patients visiting the hospital. Special care should be taken for cleanliness and avoid unnecessary referrals, he added.
