East Goes Global is launching a new distribution arm.

The Los Angeles-based, China-focused marketing company says that its new service will deliver music from Western artists to DSPs in China.

The news follows last week’s announcement that East Goes Global has closed a $1 million seed funding round. The company says it is now valued at $10 million.

The round was oversubscribed and exclusively extended to investors via invite-only. Notable investors in the recent funding round include the likes of FLETCHER, Ingrid Andress, Jessie J, Jessie Reyez, managers Alfredo Tirado, James Dai, and teams including Jonathan Gordon’s 1916 Enterprises, rogue. + more.

As part of this new expansion, East Goes Global says it will deliver music to China’s largest platforms including Tencent’s QQ Music  and Kugou Music, and NetEase Cloud Music, amongst others.

Also, as part of the new distribution service, East Goes Global has partnered with Acrylic Label, a recording company focussed on instrumental music.

East Goes Global will distribute upcoming releases from the company’s roster to DSPs in China moving forward.

Led by founder and CEO Andrew Spalter, the company aims to bridge the social media gap between the US and China.

Spalter started working with British pop star Jessie J while at management firm MDDN. He ended up living in China for four months in 2018 during the filming of the market’s TV contest show Singer, which Jessie J ultimately won.

Spalter went on to found East Goes Global and the company now claims to have secured over 100 million followers “across some of the biggest stars in the world” in China.

“Musicians have been kept in the dark for too long on music streaming and consumption in the largest, fastest-growing market in the world. We are excited to open up the door to this territory, transparently.”
