Do You Know Why Soya Chunks Are Soaked Before Cooking? Here’s The Answer

Do you know exactly why this process is followed? Chef Kunal Kapur has shared a video on Instagram under the title “Kunal’s Tips & Tricks” stating the reason behind the same.

Going by the video, the chef shared that you need to soak soya chunks in water to get rid of the strong pungent smell they carry. Once, you soak them for about half an hour to forty-five minutes in water, just press them and squeeze out the extra liquid from them. This will transfer that odour (strong flavour/small) from the chunks into the water. He also mentioned that if you don’t have much time, you can directly boil the soya chunks in water.
Soya chunks, in general, should be an integral part of your diet. Here are some of the health benefits of soya:
