Asymmetrical multiplayer horror game Dead by Daylight is known for introducing characters from various horror film franchises into the game. The game had previously added killers from the Resident Evil series, Friday the 13th, Scream and even Stranger Things. Now, it is going to add Hellraiser’s Pinhead as the new killer in the game. Pinhead is set to arrive in the game with the Chapter 21 update.
Rumours about the next Dead By Daylight killer had begun circulating after various hints appearing on audio files on Discord and Twitter hinted at the Hellraiser series by Clive Barker. A teaser video showing a recording of a red flower blossoming, that marked the summoning of the Cenobites, and the number 1987, the year of release for the film also pointed in the same direction. It was soon confirmed by the Dead By Daylight Twitter account.

For those of you who are unaware of the character, Pinhead is the chief Cenobite or the Hell Priest in the Hellraiser franchise written by Clive Barker. The first book in the series came out in 1986 and the film came out one year later. As per the storyline, the Cenobites earlier used to be humans only but they became demonic creatures devoted to experimental sadomasochism who exist in another realm which is Hell or one of its many versions. In the film, Pinhead was earlier Captain Elliott Spencer of the British forces who became disillusioned with life and joined the Cenobites later.
The Player Test Build of the game, which is said to be an early build of the final release, has gone live on Steam. The Hellraiser character in the game will simply be known as The Cenobite.
