BTS was once again snubbed at the Grammys race despite multiple nominations. This is the third time that the group consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook lost out on the Grammys. They were also absent from the event, where they have entertained fans with powerful performances for the last three years. BTS was nominated at Grammys 2023 for their hit track Dynamite, Butter and My Universe (ft Coldplay), all released last year. They also made it to the nomination list for the Best Music Video category, followed by member J-Hope’s nomination for his solo = (Equal Sign).

Reacting to the Grammys 2023 winners’ list, fans took to Twitter and shared their disappointment. One of them wrote, “Grammys voters need to listen to Equal Sign and stop letting hate paralyse their minds. They are the victims of their own prejudice refusing to even listen… missing out on some of this generation’s best music because of their preconceived notions of BTS.” Another one wrote, “Grammys fail BTS because the Grammys Awards are racist no matter how much the artists were talented, relevant and their songs top charts, but if you’re not white from US you have no chance.”

Someone else also tweeted, “Grammys keep disrespecting, using and attacking BTS indirectly through articles or through disguised racism. I don’t see why you all even hope for one anymore, Joon especially was done and over with them since 2020. Stop giving a rigged show any importance.” Another fan said, “BTS didn’t fail at winning, the Recording Academy Voters failed them. At least BTS is the first Korean group to be nominated for a Grammy. Why didn’t you mention that? Where is your pride? I thought you all care about that.”

The 65th Grammy Awards took place in Los Angeles on Sunday. At the ceremony Beyoncé has tied the late Georg Solti for the most wins in Grammys history. She received three awards, after being nominated in categories including album, song and record of the year.

BTS is now on hiatus to focus on solo careers. The group’s eldest member Jin is currently serving in military, others are set to follow him soon. They are estimated to return as a group around 2025.
