Bielat Santore & Company Sells Horizon Diner, Manahawkin, New Jersey

The Horizon Diner, a retro-style, roadside diner has been sold according to “Diner Bob” Gillis, Bielat Santore & Company, Allenhurst, NJ., the sales agent for the transaction. Located at 32 East Bay Avenue, a gateway road to & from Long Beach Island, the diner is positioned to cater to customers from both the island and the mainland. The location produces year-round consistent business as well as an explosion of business in the summer months. The Diner sits directly off Rt. 9 and Rt. 72 in the heart of the Manahawkin business district.

Having had the Diner under contract twice, during and post Covid without closing, Mr. Gillis turned to successful real estate investor and entrepreneur, Anil Bansal to finally get the job done. Mr. Bansal is the president and owner of First National Realty Management, Lyndhurst, NJ. He owns and manages multiple commercial properties throughout the state. In this case the plan was to lease the restaurant to an experienced operator and take advantage of the extraordinary location.

Operated absentee for the past ten years, the Horizon was in need of a refresh and an energized, creative operator. Mr. Bansal was fortunate to connect with Diego Sanchez, a successful restaurateur who recently relocated from Austin, Texas back to New Jersey. An accomplished chef and restaurant owner, Mr. Sanchez actually appeared on the Food Network series “Chopped” and Beat Bobby Flay”. Starting his career as a line cook at the Galaxy Diner in Rahway, he enrolled in and graduated from the Art Institute of New York City, Culinary School. The rest is history as Diego has been a chef, manager, and owner of fine restaurants from New York City to Austin Texas to Miami Beach, Florida. Now back in New Jersey, Diego’s unique talents will surely take the Horizon Diner, under the new name, 39 Degrees North, to unimagined heights.

Mr. Sanchez has made a seamless transition with the diner, remaining open as he makes modest renovations. Landscaping, exterior lighting, painting and cosmetic changes to the dining rooms have already begun. The hours have been expanded to 7:00a.m. to 9:00p.m. seven days a week. Expect a creative new menu to incorporate classic breakfast and American comfort foods with the new operator’s creative dishes inspired by his vast culinary experience. Looks like the start of another great New Jersey Diner success story.

Bielat Santore & Company, a real estate firm specializing in food & beverage related businesses and real estate, has spent more time in recent years on the New Jersey Diner marketplace through the efforts of one of its experienced sales agents, “Diner Bob” Gillis. Currently Mr. Gillis has several Diners and Breakfast & Lunch Cafes listed for sale – Give Him A Call!!!
