Apple updates iOS 16.2 beta: Adds Security Response functionality; what it is – Times of India
Apple had released iOS 16.2 beta last month, and now, the latest update from the company introduces the Freeform app, few tweaks to the Home app, and a feature called “Rapid Security Response,” that will deliver quick security patches to iOS without the hassle of installing an entirely new version of the Operating System. The company nowadays is testing the new Security Response update that has recently been released exclusively to the beta users.
The name of the update, that replaces “iOS 16.2 (a) (20C5049e),” is “iOS 16.2 (b) (20C7750490f). At this moment, it’s unclear whether the update genuinely carries a security patch or whether Apple is only testing the new Rapid Security Response system again in order to show how it functions in a real-world setting. Without bothering to create a new version of iOS just for this, Apple will be able to swiftly fix security flaws once the feature is made available to everyone. It will function similarly to the minor security updates that have been provided for macOS.
