Apple is reportedly planning to launch three iPad models with updated design in 2022. According to a newsletter by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant will launch an entry-level ‌iPad‌, iPad Air and iPad Pro in the coming year. According to previous reports, Apple was planning to develop a 10.86-inch OLED iPad. The tablet would have been Apple’s first tablet to sport an OLED panel and it was slated to launch in 2022. But reportedly, Apple’s deal with Samsung for OLED panels went sour as profitability was an issue for the Korean giant. Now based on Mark’s newsletter it can be expected that the next ‌iPad Air‌ will stick with LCD technology.
A report by MacRumors suggests that Apple iPad Air may feature similar specs as seen on the iPad mini. To recall, the Apple iPad mini comes with a A15 Bionic chip along with 5G connectivity.
Although the newsletter has not revealed any specifications of the upcoming entry-level iPad, it can be assumed that the device will have minor specifications and chip upgrades to maintain affordability. For those who don’t know, the entry-level ‌iPad‌ got a moderate update this year. Apple added the A13 chip, True Tone along with a 12MP ultra-wide front camera with Center Stage for video calls in the iPad this year. The company has been rolling out updated versions of this iPad model every year since 2017. When it comes to the Apple iPad Pro, Mark reveals that the upcoming model will sport a new design along with wireless charging.
In his newsletter, Mark has also shared details about the upcoming smartwatches by the brand. According to him, the company will launch three fresh Apple Watches, including a new Apple Watch SE, an updated standard model and a ruggedized version aimed at athletes.
