A recent report claims that the supplier who will provide lenses for the upcoming headset will start shipping them by February. According to a report by DigiTimes, Genius Electronic Optical (GSEO) is the company that will supply lens modules for Apple’s AR/VR headset. The upcoming headset is rumoured to be called “Reality Pro,”. If the shipments of the lens begin in February, the Cupertino-based tech giant may launch the Mixed Reality device in the fall.

The company has been developing its AR/VR headset for several years. Apple is expected to launch the device in 2023. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has suggested that the company may reveal the headset before the WWDC event, which will take place in June 2023. Apple is also likely to share more details about its new xrOS operating system at the WWDC event. The company may even introduce developers to the latest operating system’s new capabilities before shipping the headset in the fall.

Apple AR/VR headset: Expected price and specs
Apple’s first AR/VR product is rumoured to be an expensive product that will be designed especially for developers and professionals. The upcoming headset is said to ship with several advanced technologies including — a dozen cameras to capture and translate real-world movements to virtual movements, two 4K micro-LED displays, iris scanning, facial expression tracking, Apple silicon chips and more.
The costly price tag will be due to the advanced nature of the headset and rumours suggest that it may be priced somewhere around $3,000. The headset will be Apple’s first entry into the AR/VR market. A recent report has claimed that Apple is also developing a lighter, more affordable version of the headset while its augmented reality glasses have reportedly been delayed indefinitely.
