Covid-19 lockdown in China is the reason

One of Apple’s biggest production partner is Foxconn, which is a Taiwan-based manufacturer. China has imposed a lockdown in Zhengzhou because of Covid-19 and that has meant that the iPhone assembly plant is operating at much reduced capacity.
“COVID-19 restrictions have temporarily impacted the primary iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max assembly facility located in Zhengzhou, China. The facility is currently operating at significantly reduced capacity,” Apple said in the statement, before adding that “we are prioritising the health and safety of the workers in our supply chain.”
Apple says that the demand for iPhone 14 Pro models is “strong” but it is expecting to ship lower number of phones. “We continue to see strong demand for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models. However, we now expect lower iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max shipments than we previously anticipated and customers will experience longer wait times to receive their new products.”
The Cupertino-based tech giant said that it is ensuring the health and safety of every working and is also “working closely with our supplier to return to normal production levels.”

How much delay can customers expect

While Apple hasn’t mentioned the exact timelines, we checked on the Apple Online Store for a couple of delivery locations. If you place your order for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone Pro Max’s base storage variant model today (November 7), then Apple Store says that the estimate delivery date will be somewhere between November 25-December 1. The non-Pro iPhone models, on the other hand, are available almost immediately. You can, as per the Apple Online Store, get iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models as early as in a day.
