Apple has started rolling out the latest firmware update for the AirPods lineup. Like always, the update does not bring much to the table except a couple of bug fixes and performance improvements. And, as always, Apple hasn’t mentioned anything on the official changelog of the AirPods latest firmware update.
AirPods devices receiving new firmware update
The latest firmware update is rolling out for AirPods 3, first-generation AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. The firmware carries version number 5B59, earlier it was 5B58.
Also, do note that the latest firmware update isn’t meant for the original AirPods and second-generation AirPods Pro.
How to check AirPods firmware version
Apple does not offer a dedicated software update option for AirPods. That means users have no way to force the update on their AirPods. The only thing they can do is check if their AirPods have the latest available firmware version or not. To do that, follow these steps

  • Open the Settings App
  • Select General
  • Select About
  • Select the AirPods currently connected to the device

In case your AirPods are not running the latest version, simply connect them to your iPhone or any other Apple device linked to the same Apple account and leave it. AirPods will install the latest update automatically.
Meanwhile, Apple has also started rolling out a new iOS 15.7.5 update for iPhone. The update brings several new improvements, security updates and bug fixes. To update the iPhone, head to Settings → General → Software Updates and check for the latest update available.
