Apple is all set to launch its annual iPhone Series for 2023 in September/October. iPhone 15 Series is expected to include 4 models- iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro & iPhone 15 Pro Max. There are strong rumors that this time, Apple is bringing some major design changes to the iPhone 15 Series models. The latest update includes CAD Renders for iPhone 15 Pro that showcase an Action Button replacing the long existing Mute button.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Renders

9to5Mac has shared some CAD renders for iPhone 15 pro models that showcase the design changes Apple might be bringing this year.

One of the major design changes is the new ‘Action Button’. The CAD renders show an Action Button that replaces the long-standing mute switch on the iPhone 15 Pro. Since the mute switch has been a part of the iPhones since the first iPhone, this might be a very big change for Apple.

Apple seems to be coming up with a two-button design for iPhone 15 Pro models. Earlier solid-state unified volume buttons were expected, but that could not materialize because of the brand ran into production issues.

What will this Action Button do?

The Action Button on the iPhone 15 Pro will perform a variety of functions. It might be similar to the action button found on the Apple Watch Ultra which performs a multitude of functions as it acts like a stopwatch button, can start workouts, and activate the backtrack function.

According to a tipster analyst941, the action button on iPhone 15 Pro will be used in combination to turn off the iPhone. Currently, iPhones can be turned off by holding the power and either of the volume buttons, but with this new action button, the iPhone will be turned off by holding and pressing the action and power buttons together.

The action button might also be used as a shutter button to be used with the camera app. It could perform multiple actions as a light press of the button would auto-focus the camera, while the hard press would capture the image. The press and hold of the action button would start a video recording.

For now, all these leaks are based on unofficial reports and thus should be taken with a grain of salt. However, confirmations will start surfacing soon as month of the iPhone launch gets closer.
