Apple: Here’s when Apple will reportedly launch a new iMac: All details – Times of India
Apple 24-inch iMac
Gurman claims that the new iMac will reportedly have a 24-inch display – same as its predecessor – and colour options like the 2021 iMac, including blue, silver, pink, and orange.
While the iMac is said to look similar from the outside, Apple is reported to be doing some changes under the hood. It is expected to come with a M3 chip made with a 3nm process.
“The computer will see some of its internal components relocated and redesigned, and the manufacturing process for attaching the iMac’s stand is different,” he noted.
2023 iMac production
As far as the launch and availability is concerned, Gurman highlights that Apple’s next iMac desktop is at an advanced stage of development called engineering validation testing (EVT). The company is also said to be conducting production tests of the machine.
It is not expected to enter mass production until at least three months but may be available for shipping in the latter half of this year, Gurman says. It is to be noted that he hinted at a 2023 iMac launch in one of his February newsletters.
Apple 2023 MacBook laptop lineup
Gurman says Apple’s also readying the new 15-inch MacBook Air, an upgraded 13-inch MacBook Air, and a Mac Pro equipped with an M2 Ultra silicon. Gurman also speculated that the company may bring a MacBook with M3 chip because it released an M2-equipped machine last year.
“But the chip destined for the new MacBook Air models is slightly less clear. If those machines launch in a few months with the M2 chip, they’ll quickly become outdated. A 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip may still excite consumers, but a new M2 13-inch MacBook Air is unlikely to be compelling,” he explains.
M3 chip may be announced at WWDC
Gurman said that Apple may announce the M3 chip alongside a new MacBook Air at Worldwide Developers Conference 2023. He based his speculation on the company’s previous schedule where it launched the M2 chip.
“The company could then follow up with the M3 iMac later in the year and M3 Pro and M3 Max-based MacBook Pros in 2024,” he noted, saying that the M3 chip will also land in a revamped iPad Pro with OLED screens, which are said to be scheduled for the first half of 2024.
“And looking further into the future, even more exciting Mac upgrades will come as early as 2025. That likely includes the first MacBooks with OLED screens and touch support,” Gurman noted.
