apple: Apple to fix this ‘broken’ important feature for iPhone 13 users – Times of India
A few days ago, it was reported that the new iPhone 13 series was unable to support the feature that allows users to unlock their iPhones using the Apple Watch when wearing a face mask.
Now, Apple has acknowledged the issue and announced that it will be fixed in an upcoming software update. However, until then, users will have to turn off Unlock with Apple Watch and use the passcode to unlock their iPhone 13, which they can do by going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode.
In a support document, Apple said, “Apple has identified an issue where Unlock with Apple Watch may not work with iPhone 13 devices. You might see “Unable to Communicate with Apple Watch” if you try to unlock your iPhone while wearing a face mask, or you might not be able to set up Unlock with Apple Watch.”
To recall, the bug was first reported on a Reddit thread in which a user said “So I have an Apple Watch SE and just got my iPhone 13 Pro today, both of which are fully up to date with the newest iOS updates. Whenever I try to unlock the Apple Watch on my phone I get an error saying “Unable to communicate with Apple Watch”.
The Reddit thread was then joined by many other iPhone users who also corroborated the same problem. Soon after that, discussions about the bug started filling Apple Support forums as well. But now with Apple’s acknowledgement, the issue should be fixed soon enough.
Another bug affects iPhone 13 series
This isn’t the only bug that is affecting the owners of the new iPhone 13 series. Last week, it was reported that users of the iPhone 13 series — along with those of an iPad 9, or an iPad mini 6 — were facing a problem with the Apple Music when they tried to restore their new device from a backup. Some of the new iPhone and iPad owners were not able to access the Apple Music catalogue and settings or use Sync Library after restoring from a backup. Apple had said that the issue can be fixed by updating the device.
