Apple: Apple rolls out new update for Apple Music preview app on Windows – Times of India

0

Earlier, Windows users had to access these Apple apps via the outdated iTunes for Windows app. Microsoft announced the arrival of Apple Music and Apple TV apps for Windows users in 2022. The company mentioned that these apps will be included in the Microsoft Store by 2023 which users can install on their Windows devices. In January, Apple launched the preview versions of these two apps for Windows users. The Cupertino-based tech giant also introduced an Apple Devices app that will help Windows users to manage devices such as iPhones, iPads, and iPods from their systems.
These apps started appearing on Microsoft Store, but Apple warned that, as these are the preview versions of these apps, “not all features may work as expected.” Now, the iPhone maker has rolled out new updates for the preview versions of Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Devices apps for Windows 11 PC users. According to a report by MacRumors, the latest update is expected to add notable improvements as well as bug fixes to the preview apps.
New updates for Apple’s apps on Windows
The report mentions that Apple hasn’t shared any release notes for the latest updates, so it doesn’t include the exact list of changes and fixes. However, users on Reddit have reportedly discovered that the Apple Music Preview app now appears to include support for Windows 11 media controls and keyboard shortcuts. The latest version of the preview app also supports lyrics and even offers continuous playback of consecutive lossless tracks.
In the case of the Apple Devices preview app, the company has reportedly removed mentions of the software that is expected to run on its rumoured mixed reality headset. The report adds that references to “xrOS” and “RealityOS” are now gone.

As it was being developed, Apple internally called the headset software “Reality OS” or “rOS” However, the company later decided to update the public name to the less generic “xrOS” name, which stands for “extended reality.” Apple is expected to unveil its headset at WWDC 2023 annual developer conference which kicks off on June 5.
The report didn’t provide information about what has changed in the preview version of the Apple TV app.
How these apps will affect iTunes
Users need to note that installing any of these apps will restrict the iTunes for Windows app from opening on their systems. For this, other types of content like audiobooks and podcasts will be inaccessible to the users. This issue is expected to linger until Apple releases a compatible version of iTunes or the user uninstalls the preview apps.
