After rolling to iPhones earlier this year, Apple’s new music app, called Apple Music Classical, is now available for Android smartphones. Apple Music and Apple Music Classical are two different apps on the iPhones, with the key difference being how Apple Music Classical handles metadata.
According to a report by 9to5mac, Apple Music Classical came to Android before it was optimised for iPad and mac. This is reportedly because Primephonic, a classical music streaming app which Apple purchased in 2021, already has an app on Android. Apple Music Classical will Primephonic app like Apple Music for Android replace Beats Music for Android.
How to gain access to Apple Music Classical
Users who want to use the Apple Music Classical app will have to purchase a subscription to Apple Music or Apple One. The app offers ad-free recordings of classical music with up to 192 kHz/24-bit lossless audio as well as recordings that support spatial audio.
Apple previously said that the app will make it “easy to find any recording in the world’s largest classical music catalogue with fully optimised search, and listeners can enjoy the highest audio quality available, and experience many classical favourites in a whole new way with immersive spatial audio.”
What is Apple Music Classical all about
Apple Music Classical app will offer its users scores of curated playlists and exclusive albums from over 5 million tracks. It will also offer composer biographies, deep-dive guides for many key works and intuitive browsing features, among others.
When will the app be available
While the Apple Music Classical was available on March 28 — almost two weeks after the announcement, the Android app is available to download now.
Apple said that it is working closely with some of the most prolific classical music artists and classical music institutions in the world to offer Apple Music Classical listeners unique and exclusive content and recordings.
