Android TV 13 is now out of beta: What’s new, changes and more – Times of India
Here’s everything you need to know about Android TV 13 operating system.
As mentioned, Android 13 does not include any major user interface improvements or changes. Most of the changes are background changes. For instance, Google is now offering new APIs to developers to help them optimise their apps for its big-screen operating system and make their apps more usable.
Adjustable frame rates
One of the most noticeable changes is the ability to adjust the refresh rate manually. Until Android 12, users didn’t have an option to manually choose the refresh rate for their Android TVs or Android-powered streaming boxes like Nvidia Sheild or Chromecast.
Adjustable resolution
While some Android TV-powered streaming devices allowed users to set the resolution, most of the TVs that come with built-in Android TV or Google TV operating system do not include this option. This has changed with the Android 13 update. Going forward, users will see the option to choose the resolution for their TV.
Other features and changes
Android TV 13 also brings a handful of power-saving options. For instance, the OS now includes the option to automatically pause the show or movie when HDMI mode changes. In addition to this, the update also brings new AudioManager API changes that bring Anticipatory audio routes for specific formats and speakers. The OS also include InputDevice APIs.
