Android Logo: Google’s Android is getting ‘new brand identity’: All details here – Times of India
Google confirmed the “new brand identity” to 9to5google news publication and said that users will hear more about it in the coming months.
“We’re showcasing some elements of our new brand identity on various surfaces, including our CES booth from earlier this year and other campaign materials like digital and banner ads. We’ll have more to share in the coming months,” the company was quoted as saying. What’s new in Android brand identity
According to a report by 9to5Google, Android is getting a new wordmark – a text-only treatment of the name of a company/ brand that provides it with a unique identity.
This new wordmark starts with the “A” instead of “a” – a shift from the name that’s entirely in lowercase. There is a new font with rounded ‘n’ and ‘r’ – pretty much like the 2014 wordmark.
Along with the new text design, the iconic 2D Android head is getting a 3D treatment. Google changed the Android logo in 2019 when it removed the full Android robot body in favour of just the head. The 3D head looks crisp and more life-like.
Noteworthy is that the new logo was hiding in plain sight at I/O 2023. It made appearances several times in different avatars but the event watchers were pretty much overloaded with “AI” narrative that apparently no one saw it.
The company reportedly started showcasing the 3D heads at CES 2023 but it was still paired with the “android” (instead of “Android”).
The report said that the new logo is presumed to make an appearance on the boot screen for all Android devices with “Powered by Android.” When we checked this on Google Pixel 7 Pro, it was still “Powered by android”. It is likely that the new brand identity will be rolled out alongside Android 14 in the coming months.
