After Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s ‘hair growing from ears’ jibe, producer hits back: ‘She’s old, her glamorous days are over’
Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was last seen in the period drama Shaakuntalam, recently took to Instagram Stories to share a screenshot of a Google search on ‘how do people have hair growing from ears’. Her cryptic post was seen as a jibe at a Telugu producer’s appearance, who had criticised the actor for doing item numbers in movies after her divorce from Naga Chaitanya. Now, Telugu producer Chitti Babu has responded to Samantha’s cryptic post, and said there was nothing wrong in him slamming her as she was getting ‘quite old’ and her ‘glamorous days were over’. Taking to Instagram Stories last week, Samantha had shared a screenshot of the internet saying ‘people have hair growing from ears’ because of ‘increased testosterone’. The actor had written with it, “IYKYK (if you know, you know).” A section of social media users were convinced Samantha was mocking Chitti Babu after his statements against her.
Now in a new interview, the Telugu producer spoke about Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s post and said as quoted by TV9 Kannada.com, “She has noticed my ear hair and hair grows in many other parts of my body and I have no objection to study and report on it… Samantha is not 18-20 years old now. Quite old, so I said she was not a suitable choice for the role of the iconic beauty Shakuntala, what’s wrong with that? Her glamorous days are over and it’s time to move on to supporting roles.”
Earlier in an interview, Chittibabu had told Filmy Looks, “Samantha Ruth Prabhu did Oo Antava item song in Pushpa: The Rise after her divorce. She did it for her livelihood. After losing the status of a star heroine, she is doing whatever offers she is getting. Her career as the heroine is finished and she cannot get back to stardom again. She should continue her journey doing the offers she gets.”
He had further added, “Every time sentiment will not work. If the role and film is good people will watch. All these are cheap and insane acts. I wonder how Samantha who lost her heroine status suited for the role of Shaakuntalam. I do not have any interest in Shaakuntalam.”
After his interview was widely covered in media, Samantha had also shared a cryptic post that read, “You can only do your karma, and can’t be the authority of it. One should not perform karma with the desire for reward.”
Samantha is now working on Citadel, the Indian spin-off of the Prime Video series. She will be seen alongside Varun Dhawan in the show directed by filmmaker duo Raj and DK.
