Actor Vineet Raina talks about his entry in Colors popular show Choti Sarrdaarni & more

What prompted you to take up this role?

Initially I was skeptical to take up this role, since this is a replacement. I took it up because whenever I play a new role, it’s like getting reborn as an actor. It is food for my soul and I always give my best.

How did you prepare for this role?

I wear a turban with pride. I am extremely proud to see myself in this look. To get the perfect look for my role was very important.

How do you break the monotony of a daily soap?

In a daily soap, the focus cannot be entirely on one or two characters. At times, there are ups and downs. The audiences are in for a major twist in the show. A lot of things will change and the focus will shift on other characters equally. So, monotony is never there.

What do you feel is the USP of a good show?

The writers are the backbone of any good show, as they are the ones who create the pillar of success.

How are you managing the stress of working during the pandemic?

Before the lockdown, I was working but after that I have not worked in any daily shows. I have completed two web series, so it’s a blessing to be back on television again.

How do you see your journey as an actor?

I have tried not to be typecast in my career. Uttaran and Ishq Mein Marjawan have received a lot of appreciation from the audience. My journey has been exciting and I am looking forward to playing more varied roles.

Would you like to do a show like Bigg Boss?

I have been offered the show a couple of times. I may do the show in the future. My all-time favourite contestant is Sidharth Shukla.

Web platforms are dominating the entertainment space, how would you see it as an artiste?

I did a series called Kasak in 2020 for Ullu platform and was nominated for the best actor’s award, along with Nawazuddin Siddique, Manoj Bajpayee and Abhishek Bachchan. Good content gets appreciation from the audience. As for me, web platforms offer a sea of content.
