YouTube Premium family plan to get a price hike in these markets – Times of India
YouTube Premium family plan new pricing
The monthly cost of the YouTube Premium family plan will increase from $17.99 per month to $22.99 per month, which is almost a 25% hike. Moreover, for iPhone users who subscribe through the Apple App Store, the new price will be $29.99 per month.
According to a report by 9to5Google, amongst the affected markets like the US, Canada, the UK and Japan only the prices of the YouTube Premium family plan are going up, while in Argentina the cost of both family and individual plans are being increased. Apart from this, only the individual plans in Turkey will receive new pricing.
Moreover, the original YouTube Red family subscribers who have been paying $14.99 per month for the last few years will also have to pay $22.99 starting from April 2023.
Google’s support page even mentions that YouTube will notify customers at least 30 days ahead of a price change and subscribers who are getting these emails will have to pay the new price from their next billing cycle.
Subscribers can check the status of their account and billing information from the Settings menu where they can pause or even cancel their membership.
The new pricing was announced just after YouTube ended an “experiment” that prevented non-paying users from streaming 4K videos on the platform. The company has also created an open form for responses where users can share their feedback about the price hike.
