YouTube channels to show separate tabs for Shorts and Videos – Times of India

0
To promote the short-video format and to compete with Reels, YouTube added the Shorts tab which is now available across all platforms that support the Google-owned video-sharing service. Earlier, the Videos tab of different YouTube channels included all videos, shorts and live streams under a single section. However, this confusing approach is now changing as the company has started decluttering the videos tab by adding new sections for shorts and live streams on YouTube channels.

The new change has already started appearing on Android devices and is expected to reach other platforms in the coming days. Earlier this week, YouTube refreshed its UI design with a dark theme, Ambient Mode and other video player updates across all the platforms.

YouTube channel’s separate tabs for videos: More details
The videos section in YouTube channels will now include three separate tabs for — regular videos, shorts and live streams. The Shorts tab will include only short videos. While watching short videos in the Shorts feed, if a user decides to visit a creator’s channel from the feed, they will be redirected to this new Shorts tab that has been added to the videos section of YouTube channels.

Meanwhile, the Live tab will house all the live streams including the ones that are currently active, scheduled or archived. Lastly, the videos tab will contain the remaining long-form content or regular YouTube videos.
Apart from this, YouTube will also offer filters like “Recently uploaded” and “Popular” to make it even easier for users to search for particular videos in a channel.

YouTube channel’s separate tabs for videos: Importance
The company’s support page explains that this new change will prevent users from scrolling through several videos as regular videos will now be available on a separate tab which won’t include shorts and live streams. This will make it easier for users to discover the most interesting content while exploring a creator’s channel page.
