Yashasvi Jaiswal smashes fastest fifty in IPL history | Cricket News – Times of India
Jaiswal went hammer and tongs from the word go to notch up his fifty off just 13 balls, breaking the joint record held by Pat Cummins and KL Rahul who slammed 14-ball fifties.
Jaiswal went on to smash unbeaten 98 as Rajasthan made a short work of their target to gun down 150 in just 13.1 overs. The left-handed batter 47-ball knock was studded with 12 fours and five sixes.
This was the second fastest fifty overall in any form of cricket after Yuvraj Singh’s famous 12-ball fifty against England in the inaugural ICC T20 World Cup in 2007 that also included six sixes off Stuart Broad over.
Chris Gayle, Hazratullah Zazai, Kaushalya Weeraratne and Wayne White also have 12-ball fifties to their names.
Jaiswal took KKR skipper Nitish Rana to the cleaners in the first over of the innings as he smacked him for two successive sixes and fours off the first four balls to launch RR chase on a blistering note.
He then continued the onslaught against Harshit Rana, and then hit Shardul Thakur for a hat-trick of fours to secure the fastest fifty.
The third fastest fifty in the IPL belongs to Yusuf Pathan, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard who recorded 15-ball half-centuries.
