Karly Blackburn wanted to send an edible resume on a cake to the sports company Nike since they were having a huge celebration. “They are not currently hiring for any positions on that team, but I wanted to find some way for the team to know who I was. What better way than to send a cake to a big party. I was brainstorming with my former colleague,” she wrote in the post.

She then narrated how her cake resume was delivered by a lady named Denise Baldwin, who had to make sure the cake got into the right hands and was seen by the relevant people and not just left at the front desk. “Denise navigated the Nike campus, all while having a sleeping child in one arm and a 1/2 sheet cake in the other,” wrote Blackburn about her delivery executive.

“Delivering the cake that day inspired one person. And maybe this post will inspire more. Helping people realize their potential is what I love to do. At the end of the day it’s not about the cake at all. It is about making things happen and taking a chance outside of the box,” she concluded.

The post about the edible cake resume went viral across platforms. On LinkedIn, it received plenty of praise from professionals across the world who gave the idea full marks for creativity. “You just have to do what you can, to get your foot in the door. Persistence pays off,” wrote one user. Others criticised the woman for sending a cake resume without prior notice. “The cake was almost certainly thrown away unceremoniously because people don’t just accept food from strangers at a large corporation,” said another user.
