Woman Orders KFC Meal, Surprised To Find Cash Under Her Sandwich

Not just for its taste, fast food is a popular meal option also because of its convenience. Whenever we want a quick meal, we simply head to our nearby fast-food joint and order food. Good quality meals are prepared and packed in a matter of minutes – making it the ideal choice for busy workdays. Recently, a woman placed an order for lunch at a KFC near her workplace for a quick lunch. She was, however, quite surprised to find a significant amount of cash under her sandwich! The incident was shared on Facebook by the Police Department in Jackson, Georgia. Take a look:

The incident happened with a woman named Joanne Oliver on September 14, 2022. A resident of Jackson, Georgia, Mrs. Oliver had decided to go to KFC for a quick lunch on a busy workday. She ordered her meal through their drive-thru service and got it packed so that she could eat it at her workplace. However, on checking the bag she found a huge amount of cash kept under her sandwich. “When she opened her lunch, and removed her sandwich, she was surprised to find $543.10 in cash under her sandwich,” revealed the post.

This huge sum of USD 543 (approximately INR 44,000) was then immediately reported by Joanne to the local police. It turned out that it was the restaurant’s daily collections that they had accidentally placed in the meal bag. Oliver immediately reported to the police and they returned it to the KFC outlet. They also refunded her lunch meal cost, and gave her a new sandwich as well!

The cash turned out to be the daily collections of the KFC outlet.

“Not only did Mrs. Oliver do the right thing but she saved the manager’s job. Mrs. Oliver thank you for reminding us that we have amazing citizens in Jackson and its people like you that make us great,” read the post by Jackson Police.

“I was raised to know that if it’s not yours, you don’t keep it,” Oliver explained to TODAY. “It’s one of the main things that I’ve been saying ever since. It was not mine to keep!”

Facebook users showered praise on Joanne Oliver for doing the right thing and being honest about the cash she found in her KFC meal. “Thank you, Mrs. Oliver for doing the right thing and reminding us that good people do exist,” wrote one user while another said, “The world would be such a better place with more Mrs. Oliver’s in it!!”
