Aamir Khan debuted in Mansoor Khan’s Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, written and produced by Nasir Hussain. He starred along with Juhi Chawla in the film. The movie was critically acclaimed and was also a major commercial success turning Aamir and Juhi into superstars. Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. It featured Pooja Bhatt, Anupam Kher, Sameer Chitre, and Tiku Talsania.

In an interview with Rediff.com, Aamir responding to a question had said, “During Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahi. The cap (he wore in the film) became very popular. Everyone was buying that cap. That was the first time I noticed it (that he was a star). Though the first time I sensed it was after QSQT.”

“People would just come everywhere to see me; I couldn’t walk on the road. I did a successful film, but I didn’t have a car. I used to travel by autorickshaw or bus, but after a point, I couldn’t. So I used to ask my uncle can I borrow your car, I have to go somewhere and there are people everywhere I go,” he had added.

Aamir will be next seen in Laal Singh Chaddha alongside Kareena Kapoor. The film also features Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya in pivotal roles. The comedy-drama is slated to release in theatres on August 11.

Laal Singh Chaddha is the official Hindi remake of 1994 Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump, featuring Tom Hanks. The Hindi version is adapted by noted actor Atul Kulkarni and directed by Advait Chandan. It is backed by Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Aamir Khan Productions.
