WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature for Android users. As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started to roll out a new beta update for Android smartphones. The report suggests that with the latest update, WhatsApp is enabling a new preview for documents shared in chats. According to the report, the Facebook owned platform is working on a new way to get the document preview when you share videos and images as documents in chats.
Currently, you can not get a glimpse of an image or video sent as a document without opening it. As per the screenshot shared with the report, the preview will be similar to the one that is visible when you share a PDF file as a document on WhatsApp. WABetaInfo reveals that the company is only rolling out this feature to certain beta testers and some may even get this feature with previous beta updates as well.
As of now, WhatsApp has not officially shared any details about this feature but the report claims that the company is planning to enable the image preview in the next few updates.
WhatsApp is also reportedly changing the design of the app window seen during group voice calls. References for the design change were already found in the previous beta updates for iOS and Android users. The report also reveals that the platform is adding voice waveforms for all participants during a group call. The voice waveforms are similar to the ones seen in voice notes.
According to the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, the changes in the design are quite minimal but they provide a refreshed look to the page. The report further suggests that the new design is only rolling out to certain Android beta testers currently, but the platform will expand it to more users in the coming weeks. As the feature is only available in the beta version, it is not yet known when the design will make it to the public release.
