WhatsApp working on Contact shortcuts in groups feature: Report – Times of India
Apart from its core messaging functionality, WhatsApp also offers a wide range of additional features that offer users a better user interface, privacy and much more. However, some of these features are in beta version and are yet to be rolled out to users. These include PIP mode (picture-in-picture), configuring image quality before sharing, report status, and others. All these features make WhatsApp one of the most comprehensive messaging platforms available today.
The Meta-owned giant is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow group admins to directly chat with the group participants instead of navigating to the group info page.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the Meta-owned giant is working on integrating Contact shortcuts into the group. The feature will be available for all WhatsApp users after installing the recent update (version 23.1.75) of WhatsApp for iOS from the App Store and TestFlight app for beta testers.
WhatsApp Contact shortcut feature
WhatsApp is rolling out this feature for group admins to quickly make a call or chat with group participants in private. Additionally, the numbers are also highlighted when a group member joins or leaves the group, allowing admins to personally interact with them. The feature also allows group admins to add group participants to their address book and copy their phone numbers. The feature is indeed efficient as group admins need not have to head to the group info section to fetch contact information. The feature will appear after tapping and holding the phone to use new shortcuts that have the ability for group admins to either call or chat with the group participants.
