WhatsApp users will get animated emoji feature soon, just like in Telegram | Digit
Meta’s WhatsApp is under development for a lot of new features relating to privacy and security; however, the application is also working towards a better communication experience for the users.
Whatsapp is adding a whole new feature for its users, just like its competitors Telegram and Slack who have an interactive communication array for sending across animated emojis.
WhatsApp in collaboration with the Lottie library is developing a new feature wherein users can send animated emojis. This new animated emoji feature intends to enhance the messaging experience for the users and was recognized and liked during the development of WhatsApp Desktop beta version. The feature is said to be released in a future update of the app.

WaBetaInfo put out a GIF that shows how the animated emojis will appear on the screen. The feature suggests that the animated emojis will be sent by default upon the animated version of a particular emoji is available. There’s a chance that the users may not have the entire control over turning off the animation.
What is Lottie Library?
Lottie is an aggregator for Android, iOS, Web, and Windows and is a J-SON based animation format. The animated emojis on WhatsApp desktop beta version are designed by using Lottie. A comprehensive stop point for an optimised library which enables the creators to create animations with ease.
The animations created on Lottie are small in size, and it is convenient to change their proportions and dimensions without having to lose any picture quality.

The introduction of the animated emojis in WhatsApp is to create a youthful experience for the users, however, not everyone can opt for this option always and there is a good percentage of users who prefer to have a minimalistic messaging experience without any fancy animations.
Hence, WhatsApp will also provide a toggle directly within WhatsApp Settings that would give the users the control to manage and use this feature.
While this feature is currently under development on the web/desktop client, WhatsApp is working on bringing this feature to a future update for WhatsApp beta for iOS and Android.
WhatsApp recently updated some Android beta testers to enable support for Unicode 15.0 emoji and since then the app has updated the official WhatsApp keyboard with 21 new emojis.
