For a while, there has been a massive restriction when it comes to sharing files on WhatsApp. Users can’t really send big files — videos or PDFs — as the platform does limit sharing of files till up to 100MB. A report by WABetainfo suggests that WhatsApp may allow users to share media files of up to 2GB.

The report states that currently the feature is being tested with beta users in Argentina as of now. For a few beta testers in Argentina, the feature is available both on Android and iOS. However, the report says that it’s not clear whether WhatsApp is planning to roll out the feature to general users or not. “WhatsApp may even roll back the changes by restoring the previous limit after the test: only time will tell,” the report mentioned. There have been occasions when feature do pop up in beta versions of WhatsApp but don’t really end up reaching the general public. WhatsApp’s rival Telegram, however, does have the feature where users can send files up to 2GB. So it might be possible that WhatsApp too could roll out this feature.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp’s multi-device feature is now being rolled out to all users. The feature was earlier in beta mode only. The feature allows users to access the platform on multiple devices even if there is no connectivity on the primary device. Users can link a single WhatsApp account with up to four more devices.
WhatsApp has also started to release the message reaction for Android users with a beta update. The feature was in the works for quite some time now. According to the report, there are six reactions available for Android users – Like, Love, Laugh, Surprised, Sad, and Thanks. The feature is quite similar to the reactions that are available on Facebook and Instagram.
