Meta-owned instant messaging WhatsApp has rolled out three new big features for its users. In a blog post, WhatsApp has revealed that the three new features users will get are emoji reactions, the ability to send files up 2GB in size, and adding 512 people to a group.
Emoji reactions are now available
Whatsapp said that it is “excited to share that emoji reactions are now available on the latest version of the app. Reactions are fun, fast, and they reduce overload in groups too.” WhatsApp further said that it will add a broader range of expressions in the future.
Reactions are easy to send as users will just have to long-press on a message and an emoji reaction will appear. Users can send reactions for individual chats as well as group chats. Users will be able to see who reacted to any outgoing or incoming message by tapping on the reaction icon. Like any other incoming message, users will get a notification when someone reacts to your message.
You can now send bigger files on WhatsApp
Users will now be able to send files within WhatsApp up to 2GB in size at a time, protected by end-to-end encryption. This is an increase from the previous limit of 100MB. WhatsApp said that the feature be helpful for collaboration among small businesses and school groups. “We recommend using WiFi for larger files and we’ll display a counter while uploading or downloading to let you know how long your transfer will take.” So users will know how much time will it take to transfer a file that is relatively big in size.
You can now add more people to groups
WhatsApp said that one of the top requests it consistently received is the option to add more people to a chat. Acting upon the request, WhatsApp is now rolling out the ability to add up to 512 people to a group.
Do keep in mind that although the features have been officially rolled out to all users on Android, iOS and Desktop, it can take a few days to reach out to everyone.
