WhatsApp tests improvements for this feature on Android, iPhones – Times of India

WhatsApp recently released a new beta update for Android (version 2.22.24.2) with a new feature that helps users add captions before forwarding media files, including images, videos, GIFs and documents. The Meta-owned instant messaging platform is now testing a few improvements for sending self-messages with some beta testers on both Android and iOS. Self-messages are the ones that users can send themselves.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the new improvements for the ‘messages with yourself’ feature is compatible with the latest version of the Android beta. These improvements are currently rolling out to a handful of beta testers.

Improvements in WhatsApp ‘messages with yourself’ feature
The popular messaging service has allowed its users to send messages to their phone numbers using the ‘click to chat’ feature for a long time now. WhatsApp’s click-to-chat enables users to start a new chat with someone whose number isn’t saved in their phone. Users can create a link to chat with someone whose number they remember but are not saved in contacts.
Some beta testers have noticed that the latest update is highlighting a new chat option called “message yourself” in the select contact option. The select contact button is usually present at the bottom right side of the chat list and tapping it shows the numbers where you can send a WhatsApp message.

The new option in the contacts list will let users to send messages to their own phone numbers and will make it easier for users to access their own chat even if they can’t find it in the main list.
Moreover, some beta testers have also noted a better synchronisation of messages within the chat with their own phone number. With this update, whenever a new message is sent to a user’s own phone number, it gets synced with other linked devices as this feature now supports multi-device usage.
These new improvements are expected to roll out to more users in the upcoming days. WhatsApp may also add the ability to view your own phone number within the contacts list with a future update.
