WhatsApp reportedly testing Communities tab for Desktop – Times of India

0
WhatsApp is already rumoured to get a new Communities tab on mobile platforms. Now, it seems that the company is working on a communities tab for WhatsApp Desktop beta.
The WhatsApp Community vision was first shared by Mark Zukerberg, but nothing surfaced after that announcement regarding the development of the Communities tab on the platform.
Now, WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp is reportedly planning to introduce the same feature for WhatsApp Desktop beta as well in the future update of the app.
According to the report, the company has already started testing the Communities tab with a select number of beta testers. The new tab will reportedly become a part of WhatsApp’s header options where we also find Status and new message options on WhatsApp Desktop beta app.

Clicking on the Communities tab will open the home for the community section where all the communities can be found along with the option to search and join new communities.
It is also important to note that the Communities tab is also in work for Android and iOS versions of the app.
For now, the feature is in limited-beta testing and it is now sure when WhatsApp will expand the availability to more beta testers or bring it in the final version of the app.
For those unaware, WhatsApp has recently started testing message reactions-like feature for WhatsApp Status. The Status reactions will allow users to react to a status with a select set of emojis.
