Well, it’s another day and we have yet another feature added to WhatsApp. Officially announced, the feature lets users share short video messages directly in their chats. It works similarly to how you would send a voice message on the instant messaging app but with a video instead.
You might ask, we already have a video-sharing feature on WhatsApp, right? Albeit it might seem redundant, the video message-sharing feature tends to have short 60-second videos that will be sent to the users in their chats. It will play like boomerang videos in the chats with the sounds checking in once the user taps on the video message.
WhatsApp says that the video messages feature is real-time and made for those who want to share their moments. It will give you up to 60 seconds of frame to capture and forward. You can use it to break the good news, laugh at a joke, wish happy birthday, and so on. Perhaps, it has been built super easy to use and has end-to-end encrypted onboard to keep the data secured against prying eyes.
How To Use Video Messages Feature on WhatsApp?
It’s super easy to use. Here’s how.
- Open the chat where you are interested in sharing a video message.
- Tap on the ‘Video’ option on the bottom-right of the screen where you usually have a camera option.
- Record the video by tapping on the capture button or swiping it up to lock and record messages for up to 60 seconds.
- Send it.
- On the recipient side, the videos will be shown directly in the chat playing like a boomerang and the sound kicking in once the user taps on the message.
WhatsApp’s Video Messages feature is rolling out as we speak. Since there are 2 billion users, it could take some weeks to reach every nook and corner of the globe but hang on tight, it will reach you soon. Some other features that WhatsApp recently added are the ability to edit a message you sent within 15 minutes and to silence calls from unknown numbers.
