WhatsApp making it easier to start chat with unsaved contacts – Times of India

0

WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will make it easier for you to message unsaved contacts. Currently when you tap on a phone number in the chat bubble, WhatsApp takes you directly to your default dialler app. With the coming updates, the platform may show you more options after tapping on a phone number. As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started to roll out a new beta update for Android users. The update brings the version of the app up to 2.22.8.11. With the update, the Facebook owned platform lets you use some shortcuts when selecting phone numbers in chat bubbles.
According to the screenshots shared in the report, WhatsApp shows Android users new options such as Add to contacts and Dial after the beta update. The report further reveals that if the phone number you have tapped on is available on WhatsApp, the platform will also provide you an option to begin a chat with the contact. The other two options always show up when the phone number isn’t available on WhatsApp.
As mentioned, the feature is only available for Android users who are enrolled in the WhatsApp beta program. Although the company has not yet revealed any official details about the new features, it is expected that we may see them in future updates soon.
Last week, WhatsApp also announced a range of new features for voice messages. The Facebook-owned platform claims that these new features will make it easier for users to communicate with their friends and family. Some of these were already available to beta testers on Android and iOS platforms. The six new features were announced by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg in a social media post.
