WhatsApp is focusing more on security-based features these days. And now, the Meta-owned platform has introduced a new feature to enhance the security of the platform. This time, WhatsApp is giving providing users with the ability to lock chats with the Chat Lock feature. The Chat Lock feature allows users to protect their private conversations from anyone by setting a lock. The same is going to be secured with the help of biometric and password authentication.

The Chat Lock feature is all set to help the users who give their phone to others save their chats from the people who want to have a sneak peek. The latest WhatsApp features keep the locked chats in a separate folder via biometric or password authentication. The biometric authentication will consist of two options, including a fingerprint scanner and Face ID, according to the device. Whenever a user receives a message from the locked chats, then WhatsApp will hide the name of the sender along with the summary of the message. In place of that, WhatsApp prompts the user to unlock the chat and view the content.

Are you getting WhatsApp calls from unknown international numbers? Beware!

If you are someone who is looking to lock a chat, then you can simply do the same by tapping the name of an individual or group and then selecting the lock option. In order to open the locked chats on your smartphone, you just need to pull down the inbox and then authorize the lock with a biometric or password. However, one thing the users should know is that if someone knows their password, then they can also open their locked WhatsApp chats. So, to avoid this kind of situation, users are suggested to go for a biometric lock.

WhatsApp has also said that the firm is already working on the issues related to the above-mentioned concerns. We can expect to see more functionalities in the chat lock feature of the company. WhatsApp has started rolling out the feature for both Android and iOS users. Expectations are that all the users globally will get the same pretty soon.
