WhatsApp Call Link feature ‘starts rolling out’ for these Android users – Times of India

0
WhatsApp Call Link feature is now rolling out to some beta testers on Android. Facebook-parent Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently announced the feature that allows users to set up calls by creating direct links to both audio and video calls as well as join an ongoing call. At that time, he said that the instant messaging service will get this feature in a week.
WABetaInfo, which tests WhatsApp features before they are being rolled out to the masses, has announced that the WhatsApp Call Link feature has started rolling out for users on WhatsApp beta for Android (version 2.22.21.13). WhatsApp Call Link feature will take on other video conferencing apps such as Google Meet, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. These apps also use the similar link sharing process for video calls.
How WhatsApp Call Link feature will work
A ‘Call Links’ option is added within the Calls tab on WhatsApp, and users can create a link for an audio or video call which can easily be shared on other platforms. A screenshot showing the feature in WhatsApp for Android has been shared by WABetaInfo.

When you create a link for a call, you can choose the type of the call (voice or video) and the call will be automatically converted to a group call when more than two people joined the call. These call links will expire in 90 days. WhatsApp currently allows up to 32 participants for audio calls and up to eight participants on a video call. The company is already testing video calls with up to 32 participants.

While announcing the Call Links feature earlier this week, CEO Zuckerberg had not revealed which operating systems will get the feature first. With this development, it is confirmed that the feature will come to Android users first. It remains to be seen when it will be rolled out for iOS users and Windows as well as WhatsApp Web.
