NEW DELHI: Cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli led the sportsmen wishing luck to the Indian men’s hockey team as it starts their FIH World Cup 2023 campaign against Spain in Rourkela on Friday.
The men’s hockey World Cup will be held in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela from 13-29 January, and hosts India are placed in Pool D along with England, Wales and Spain.
India are seeking a podium finish after 48 years at the showpiece event, and the expectations are high from the hosts after their stupendous performance at the Tokyo Olympics. India ended a 41-year-long wait for an Olympic medal in Tokyo, winning a historic bronze there.
Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to wish the Indian team.
