NEW DELHI: It was deja vu of sorts on Wednesday to see Indian cricketer Hanuma Vihari bat on Day 2 of Andhra Pradesh’s Ranji Trophy quarter-final match against Madhya Pradesh in Indore. Fans were reminded of his Sydney Cricket Ground (CSG) heroics on India’s last tour of Australia, where he batted with a strapped hamstring, along with R Ashwin, who was battling a back strain to deny Australia a win and the series lead.
Vihari, who sustained a broken wrist after being hit by a short delivery by pacer Avesh Khan, retired hurt on 16 in Andhra’s first innings. When Andhra lost 9 of their batters, Vihari once again came out to bat. He batted left-handed and played some one-handed shots.
