Virgin Media down: Thousands of UK users fume as websites stop working

0

If you are trying and failing to access the web this morning via Virgin Media you are not alone. The popular ISP appears to be having some serious issues which have left many unable to access websites.

The gremlins appear to have begun at around 5am with thousands of reports flooding in from across the country. This latest bug is strange as it doesn’t appear to have taken everything offline. Most customers are simply finding that they can’t access certain websites.

It’s clearly a massive outage with Downdetector, which monitors outages across the UK, showing a whopping 26,000 reports.

Speaking on its forum page, one user named Chantelle said: “Everything’s down – even the website.”

Although the issue seems to have been hitting users for the past hour, things appear to now be being fixed with some Virgin customers confirming that they are now back online.

“Working now in Glasgow,” confirmed a user named Chris.

Virgin Media has just issued a statement confirming today’s issues with the company saying: “We’re aware of an issue that is affecting broadband services for Virgin Media customers as well as our contact centres. Our teams are currently working to identify and fix the problem as quickly as possible and we apologise to those customers affected.”
