Each event is a reminder of how women continue to define Italian wine’s future. For example, the return of VIA Verona brings the next round of potential Italian Wine Ambassadors, led by a female majority. Over 50 percent of the incoming students are ladies – 37 out of 66, to be precise!

March is a very exciting month. It marks the beginning of Spring, the Vinitaly Marathon, and most importantly Women’s History Month. The full return of Vinitaly this year means an intense marathon ahead for the Vinitaly team, filled with quite the list of notable events: Opera Wine, Five Star Wines, VIA Verona Vinitaly International Academy, and – of course – the 55th edition of Vinitaly.

The trailblazing ladies in Italian wine don’t stop there. The Vinitaly event lineup shares female voices from all angles of the industry. On April 4th, Wine Spectator’s very own Alison Napjus will host the master class Iconic Women in Italian Bollicine. The master class will share the stories of the women defining the Italian sparkling wine world, exploring all their amazing endeavors.

That day will also be an opportunity to experience Master of Wine Sarah Heller’s presentation on art and wine. Her master class will debut her artwork with a remarkable selection of Italian wines. Heller will guide attendees through her emotions and intentions behind the artwork with wines that match the visceral experience.

March is indeed the month of women and wine, with the upcoming Vinitaly Marathon a reminder of how women continue to define the Italian wine sphere. We know well that Stevie Kim holds down the fort as Managing Director of Vinitaly International, a striking example already.

We are excited to see how everyone will come together from all corners of the globe to celebrate women in the Italian wine world in this upcoming 55th edition of Vinitaly.
