Vaani Kapoor elated with BellBottom’s theatrical release: There is a sense of normalcy now
Vaani Kapoor is a happy woman and why should she not be, the actor’s film, BellBottom is the first major Bollywood movie to release theatrically post the second wave of deadly coronavirus pandemic.
“I am feeling very good about the fact that it brings some sense of normalcy. We know how it was two years ago. Now again we will see people going to theatres and watching films together with their friends and family,” she says.
Kapoor, who stars in the spy action thriller set in the 80s, alongside actors Akshay Kumar, Huma S Qureshi, Adil Hussain and Lara Dutta, says even though there may have been a delay with its release, she is glad that it is eventually a theatrical opening for the film.
“It is made for a theatrical experience and the producers took a call to wait and now release it in cinemas. I think it is a very courageous step and everyone should be able to go and watch the films and enjoy it,” she adds.
The 32-year-old finds it rather heartening for her to see the film release finally, especially considering the circumstances it was shot in last year in the UK, which was the peak of the pandemic.
“There was a level of paranoia that we all were feeling. For BellBottom, you were travelling out of country , and you would wonder that if you got sick how would you come back or what would have to be done, etc. But I think it was a great shooting experience and all protocols were maintained. I am happy that it went well and we all came back safely,” she muses.
The film released just few days before of her 33rd birthday on August 23 and the actor calls it perfect timing.
“I have no special plans. I don’t take birthdays that seriously. My mother will be in Mumbai so I am going to spend the day with her. I have a few close friends and I will ring in my birthday with them,” she shares.
And as for her birthday wish, apart from BellBottom ruling the box office, Kapoor has another wish.
“I just want this pandemic to end. It’s been a while now; we are all done with it mentally, physically and emotionally in every way possible. I am just hope that totally normal lives can resume soon,” she ends.
