Two-day training on mental healthcare begins at AIIMS-Patna – ET HealthWorld
Patna: The two-day training programme for ensuring availability of minimum mental healthcare facilities for people of weaker sections began at AIIMS-Patna on Tuesday. Executive director of the State Health Society, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and AIIMS-P executive director Dr GK Pal were present on the occasion.
The programme is currently running in all the 38 districts of the state for providing mental health services. All district hospitals through their OPDs provide consultancy on mental health issues and doctors suggest medicines as well, an official said.
Currently, altogether 18 doctors, including those posted in jail hospitals, and five nursing staff were undergoing training at the AIIMS-P, to be followed by a yearlong online training programme to be conducted by the experts of National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. NIMHANS registrar BS Shankarnarayana also attended the event.
